Round 2 Elevate Together Cash Grant Now Open Apply Today

ELEVATE TOGETHER™ powered by Round It Up America® is a nonprofit initiative designed to address systemic discrimination and historical racial disparities in business growth and profitability in Black and Hispanic communities.

The Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Office Depot  to offer a grant opportunity for small business with less than 5 full time employees.

This is Round 2 for gash grant funding and  the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce is one of  several chambers in the United States to offer this grant opportunity to Latino & Black Small Business. Other cities include Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, South Florida, and has expanded to Phoenix, Fort Worth, Detroit and Minneapolis. 

Grant Criteria to qualify:

  • Business Certifications:
  • Licensed (if applicable)
  • Registered with the Department of Revenue and with the IRS
  • If applicable, also registered with the Department of the State
  • Considered a Small Business based on SBA size standards.
  • In "good standing" with respective state.
  • Participate in small business education workshops or counseling with a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce or L.A. Latino Chamber.
  • In business at least the last 9 months.
  • Between 1-5 employees
  • At least 51% minority-owned, operated and controlled.
  • A minority group member is an individual who is at least 51% Black or Hispanic.
  • Ownership, in the case of a publicly-owned business, means at least 51% of the stock owned by one or more of these two minority group members.
  • Owner must be at least 21 years old and be a legal resident of one of the 48 contiguous United States, the District of Columbia, Alaska or Hawaii.
  • Business must be in the Greater Los Angeles area.
  • Business must provide a plan for the use of the funds.*
  • Business must provide a 60 second video introducing themselves and their business and why they are applying for the grant.*
  • Be a current LALCC member in "good standing".**
  • Take 3 mentoring sessions with Venture Mentoring Team prior to receiving the grant, if selected.*

LALCC will be providing three to six cash grants directly to the selected business owner and the typical grant amount ranges from $5,000 - $10,000 per business.

Timeline

June 17, Last day to submit your application and video.

June 20 - 24, Elevate Committee to review applications and select grant recipients.

July 1 - 8,  Grant recipients will be notified by LALCC.

Within a week, Cash grant recipient will receive a congratulatory letter with dates and times for mentor orientation session with Venture Mentoring Team and receive Elevate Together toolkits. The Venture Mentoring Team will host a mentor orientation for Elevate Together cash grant recipients. 

July 18 – 22, Mentoring session for Elevate Together cash grant recipients begin

November 19, Deadline for cash grant recipient to complete three mentoring sessions

How Elevate TogetherTM provides Support

Education

  • Technical assistance (workshops, training, bootcamps, one-on-one counseling) provided by National Urban League and US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce affiliates in local markets
  • Certified small business mentor from The Venture Mentoring Team
  • Elevate Together University — small business workshops (accounting, finance, marketing, supplier development, IT, legal) presented by Elevate Together corporate partners


Access

  • Provide access to professional networks and platforms
  • Help to increase the pipeline of diverse suppliers
  • Increase amount of capital available to minority small business owners through non-traditional lending sources


Aid

  • Cash grants to minority small business owners
  • Donation of in-kind products and services (copy and print services; tech products and services; office/home office furniture furnishings; business services; office supplies)

How does a business participate in the Elevate Together initiative?

Hispanic small business owners interested in participating in the initiative must contact the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce during standard business hours Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm PST.

Why should a business participate in the Elevate Together initiative?

Hispanic small business owners that are part of the Elevate Together initiative will receive short and/or long term-term education and training, mentoring and advisory services delivered by local community partners. Some businesses may also be eligible to receive a cash grant or in-kind products and services from the initiative.

In how many locations will the Elevate Together have in 2022

Elevate Together will launch in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and South Florida. The initiative will eventually be expanded to additional geographic locations in the United States.

The Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce (LALCC) Elevate Together Committee has selected the six Latino-owned small businesses that will be awarded the Elevate Together Cash Grant of $5,000.00.

Recipients of this award will also receive mentorship from The Venture Mentoring Team to elevate their businesses. The mentors will partner up with each business to help them scale up, provide training and guidance.

We also have great news!  Through out partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) and Elevate Together, the LALCC will be offering the Elevate Together Grant Round 2 during the summer. We will share the application dates as soon as they are confirmed. We highly encourage you to apply at that time.
